There are many reasons as to why the use of video works so well in promoting your business. It not only provides a means to market to your potential customers, but also helps engage them far more than could be done with static image and text based promotional material. Below I talk about just a few reasons why video is so valuable.

1. Attention

Quite simply, a video will grab your attention far more than any written text on a web page. They are able to engage a viewer, provoke emotion and make an impression. In just a short amount of time, a video can deliver more detail than a whole page of written text.

2. Communication

Video is now our preferred method of communication, it is available through our desktop computers, smart phones, tablets and more....

As news that the SMS text messaging service turns 20 this week, we at iNet were asking ourselves whether this is now a service out of its depth in the current market?
SMS is the without doubt the most used data application in the world with estimates putting the figure at nearly 6Billion phones which represents 80% of all mobile phone users. However a key fact within our particular culture is that although our phones are able to send SMS messages do we subscribe to it?

Huge innovations in the phone and provider markets over the past few years have given us so many more creative options when it comes to staying in touch. We now have Facetime, Facebook, Twitter and Skype all which are mobile compatible and offer as much if not more diversity when it comes to message...

Following on a bit from the last blog regarding Apple’s recent shortcomings, its looks as if the California based tech giant is looking to make amends. Well, at least in the eyes of its share-holders.
As news filters down that they have ousted Richard Williamson - design lead for Apple’s mapping division, few will be surprised at the decision to draw an imaginary line under the PR storm that erupted following the dreadful iOS mapping glitches. But does this really go far enough, and isn’t it just time to kiss and make up with Google?

As much I wish this were the case it’s almost impossible to imagine a world with Google and Apple playing nice again. You see, its not even a situation that Apple (under new management since the loss of Jobs) were ever happy with - that is to...

A lot of people may have the opinion that Drupal websites are a little bland and even ugly on the design side. It is true that there are a lot of pretty poor looking Drupal themes out there, mainly being the quick and easy free to use themes that can be found all over the web. Having said that there are some pretty good free drupal themes, as shown in a previous blog by Ed.

It is my opionion that a large proportion of Drupal themes that look like they should be banned from the web, are a result of a simple case of bad and lazy web designers. Obviously there are times when, as a web developer, you have no choice over design as some clients come to you with a half finsihed design theme that a friend of a friends dog has produced, but hasnt had time to finsih. And it never seems...

In doing research for this article it became clear pretty quickly why most people assume that Drupal is not a design friendly technology. In actual case that's not true, as any good Drupal developer will tell you it's quite possible to turn any HTML / CSS template into a Drupal theme. That of course doesn't mean that there are 1000's of great themes to choose from. In fact for some reason most Drupal themes look pretty poor. Which is a such a shame considering how great (we think) Drupal is. There are some themes that are pretty handy however, below is a run down of what I view the top 10 free Drupal themes are. Hopefully this is one of those top 10 lists that becomes out-dated quickly, in the mean time here's my top 10 themes.

Root Candy

Root candy is the most...

For those who don't know both Magento and Drupal are PHP frameworks for developing websites. This means that developing a basic site with a content management system (CMS) becomes standardised and enables us to develop these sites much faster than without the framework. Both are used by thousands worldwide and are rapidly becoming considered the best in their fields. Here at iNet we've got experience working with both on some pretty big sites and it's interesting to see the strengths and weaknesses of both.

Magento is an e-commerce solution. This immediately differentiates it from Drupal in the sense that it is much more specific in it's operation. If you're looking to make a classic e-commerce website then use Magento. Without a doubt the best e-commerce software available. The...
